The men, who were dressed in dark clothing, masks and gloves, forced the victim into a waiting vehicle before making a getaway. Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi, the commander of the robbery and serious crime squad, said police had worked"around the clock for the entire six days" to track down the victim.
A 19-year-old man was arrested inside the home after police arrived, while two 20-year-olds were arrested during a vehicle stop. They were taken to Campsie Police Station and Granville Police Station where they were charged with a string of violent offences, including special aggravated break and enter, detain person in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.“We will allege in court that these men are part of a criminal enterprise in an effort to extort a large sum of money from this man and from this man’s associates," Mr Douiehi said.
