A man has been arrested tonight by police investigating a robbery at a jewellers in the Abbey Centre in Newtownabbey
The 26-year-old is being held for questioning after an incident at a store in the Abbey Centre on the Longwood Road in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, on January 10.
A PSNI statement said: "Detectives investigating a robbery at a jewellers in a shopping centre on the Longwood Road area of Newtownabbey on Tuesday morning, January 10, have arrested a man.Detective Sergeant McDowell siad: "The 26-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault. He remains in custody at this time, assisting police with their enquiries.
"Our investigation continues and we would reiterate our appeal to anyone who has any information or who witnessed the robbery to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 386 of 10/01/23." Police say that at approximately 9.15am on January 10, officers received a report that a man had entered a jewellers premises and asked to see a ring.
