According to Bexar County court records, Michael Rodriguez had allegedly made threatening Facebook Messenger comments ahead of the NBA Finals matchup between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks. San Antonio police were contacted Friday after a reporting person received a series of messages from Rodriguez referencing the upcoming Spurs-Knicks game in San Antonio. Investigators say the messages included comments about Knicks fans getting “stomped” and statements about getting weapons ready.
The reporting person told police she became concerned Rodriguez intended to commit violence against Knicks fans attending the game. The affidavit states Game 5 was expected to draw thousands of spectators, including fans, players, team personnel and media members.
