Published: May. 15, 2024 at 6:46 PM EDTCLEVELAND, Ohio - 19 Investigates uncovered new information on the man investigators say shot and killed Euclid Police Officer Jacob Derbin last weekend.And a judge warned years ago that he could be a risk to the community.The 24-year-old was accused of killing a beloved rookie officer in Euclid, just days after he shot another man in Cleveland.
By age 17, he had at least 10 separate criminal cases and what the court called a “significant juvenile history.”A judge determined he was “a risk of harm to himself and the community” and said “the safety of the community may require that the juvenile be subject to adult sanctions.” He went back to prison two more times for parole violations and was on the verge of getting sent back again.
