The 44-year-old man accused of randomly shooting people while driving on I-5 on Labor Day spoke to police hours before he opened fire.
Bodycam video from the Fircrest Police Department shows Perkins speaking with officers just six hours before the shooting. Perkins told Fircrest officers that "people were following him" and that his "life was at risk."In addition to those charges, the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office accused Perkins of four counts of first-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm for three shootings alleged to have occurred in its jurisdiction.
One victim described rushing to the nearest fire station in Federal Way for help after they'd been shot at and one of his passengers had been seriously wounded.with his wife and two young children when bullets came flying through the passenger side door and window. WSP said Wednesday morning a motorcyclist in Bothell also reported being shot at Monday night by someone in a white Volvo, which matches the suspect vehicle description given by victims in the other shooting incidents. The motorcycle in the Bothell incident was hit twice, but the rider was not injured, according to WSP.
Investigators said they were quickly able to track down the suspected shooter after several victims described being shot by someone in a white Volvo and someone on the road was able to provide a license plate.
