Man accused of burning woman alive could walk free eNCA
Mpho Thobane is facing one count of murder in the Johannesburg magistrate's court.It’s alleged Thobane, in a fit of jealous rage, set Dalingozi alight while she was asleep.A year later, Thobane is in the dock but it’s been almost impossible to prove he was anywhere near the scene of the crime.
A charge of arson had to be dropped because the police never established a connection between Thobane and the fire.The State now wants to call witnesses who spoke to Dalingozi before she died. Welcome Madela, a state prosecutor, said, “she met up with her employer…they met in hospital and she told her I am in this condition my boyfriend has burnt me.”
