Man, 70, shot 4 times in leg in Mountain View [Breaking]
A 70-year-old man was hospitalized Thursday night after being shot four times in one of his legs in the Mountain View area, San Diego police said.
The gunfire was reported just before 8:45 p.m. on Gilmore Street near South 36th Street, in a neighborhood just south of the Mount Hope and Home of Peace cemeteries, police Officer John Buttle said. The victim’s niece called 911 reporting that her uncle had been shot four times, Buttle said. Witnesses reported seeing a dark SUV drive away, though it wasn’t clear if the shooting was a drive by or if the shooter had quickly jumped in the vehicle. After paramedics took the victim to a hospital, officers discovered eight shell casings at the scene, Buttle said.
