Kenneth Davies made no plea when he appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court on Monday.
A 70-year-old man has appeared in court charged with assault after a woman was found dead at a house in Ayr.
Police Scotland were called to reports of a disturbance at the property on Whitletts Road at 16:45 on Saturday. The body of a woman was found inside. The force said her death was being treated as unexplained. A spokeswoman said inquiries into the full circumstances were continuing.Mr Davies, from Ayr was remanded in custody. He faces an assault to severe injury charge and a charge of assaulting or impeding a police officer.
