Heartbreaking.
A dog owner has died after jumping into a river to try and rescue his beloved pet.
The 21-year-old man entered the River Weaver near Weir Street in Northwich, Cheshire, with a woman, aged 20, after one of thePolice, firefighters and paramedics were scrambled to the scene, shortly before 5am on Saturday, to find the woman hanging on to the side of a steep embankment. Firefighters put a ladder alongside and helped hoist her out on to dry land, police said.
She was then assessed by paramedics before being taken to hospital in an ambulance and has since been discharged. The dog which was in the water was also rescued, but the man sadly drowned.For all the latest news and updates on Coronavirus,
