The ascent, which moved the track from number two to the summit on the chart dated July 25, 2026, marks Maluma's fifth career number one on the Tropical Airplay tally. This latest achievement also represents the second chart-topping single from his recent album, 'The Champ,' released under PARW LG/Sony Music Latin. The song's rise displaced Romeo Santos and Prince Royce's 'Dardos,' which had held the number one position for seven consecutive weeks before sliding to number two.
'Tu Recuerdo' garnered 5.4 million audience impressions across tropical-reporting stations in the United States during the tracking week ending July 16, a 6% increase, according to data from Luminate. The track's success makes it only the second song by a core Latin rhythmic artist to lead the Tropical Airplay chart in 2026, following Arcángel's 'Hoy Se Guaya,' which held the top spot for a week in June.
Furthermore, Maluma joins an elite group as one of just three solo acts, without any featured billing, to achieve a number one on the Tropical Airplay chart in 2026. He is now in the company of Arcángel and Carlos Vives, whose 'Te Dedico' reigned for three weeks between May and June.
This milestone adds to Maluma's already impressive résumé, which includes previous Tropical Airplay chart leaders such as his featured performance on Elvis Crespo's merengue hit 'Ole Brazil' back in 2014
