A popular Malaysian comedian is facing detention in Saudi Arabia for allegedly possessing cannabis while on a pilgrimage to Makkah. The comedian was reportedly apprehended at Jeddah International Airport and has been in custody for two months.
A popular Malaysian comedian is reportedly being detained in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for alleged possession of cannabis while on the way to perform the ‘ Umrah ’ pilgrimage in Makkah. According to Utusan Malaysia, the celebrity has been under detention in Saudi Arabia since two months ago after being apprehended by the local authorities at the Jeddah International Airport.
Quoting a source, the report further revealed that the comedian was allegedly detained with the illegal substance while they were with friends to perform the Umrah in the country. Utusan added that despite being held by the authorities in Saudi Arabia, the celebrity has been active on social media. However, it is believed that all of the recent contents uploaded to social media were actually pre-recorded and published by their social media management team. Moreover, the comedian is even allegedly slated to feature in a Malaysian television programme soon, which was recorded prior to their detention. Besides that, not much else is known about the incident, with Saudi Arabian authorities and the celebrity’s family yet to release any statements
