KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — Actor and host Awal Ashaari has promised to bring his eldest daughter Lara Alana for a holiday in Japan for Hari Raya if the eight-year-old managed to fast the whole month of Ramadan.

Awal, or his real name Ahmad Awaluddin Ashaari, said this was one of his ways to educate Lara on the matter,"My wife and I used the Japan trip to motivate her as Lara likes Mario and we are planning to bring her to Mario World in Osaka," the 41-year-old said. Awal, however, said he did not force Lara to fast fully from dawn to dusk, as it was part of a learning process.

"Although we promised her the reward, we still tell Lara that fasting is an obligation. We teach her slowly." "We do not force her, if she cannot do it, it is fine. It is a process to learn and educate oneself," he added."Alhamdulillah, this year she can go on for a full day. We see that she is more prepared and calm with more energy."
