A NEW border crossing agreement between Malaysia and Indonesia in Kalimantan is expected to be signed later this year, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He said the agreement, which is being finalised, is expected to be signed when Indonesian President Joko Widodo visits Malaysia later this year.
Malaysia and Indonesia are reviewing several key issues particularly concerning security threats, he added. “First, it must involve cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia. Now, we are finalising a border crossing agreement,” he said. He was responding to a supplementary question by Roy Angau Gingkoi , who asked about steps to improve security at the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security Complex and national assets near the Malaysian-Indonesian border.
Saifuddin Nasution said his ministry was now examining accessible areas for citizens of Malaysia and Indonesia.
