Malaysia records 8.7% GDP growth in 2022, highest in over 2 decades
The Department of Statistics Malaysia says the country’s economic growth rose to a record 22-year high of 8.7% in 2022, against 3.1% in 2021. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, February 10, 2023.
The central bank said private sector activity remained the key growth driver in Q4, supported by private consumption and investment. Commenting on the full-year GDP performance, the DOSM said the services sector expanded by 10.9% in 2022, followed by the manufacturing and mining and quarrying sectors.
