Malaysia Airlines has announced a delay in the delivery of its new Airbus A330neo aircraft due to findings identified by Airbus during the flight line stage. The airline will continue operating existing A330-300 aircraft for affected routes.

In an official statement, Malaysia Airlines (MAG) revealed that the delivery of its new Airbus A330neo aircraft has been delayed. The initial planned launch date was November 25th, 2024, with the first commercial flight slated for Melbourne. However, Airbus identified issues during the flight line stage, necessitating a postponement. MAG stated that they will continue operating their existing A330-300 aircraft for these routes without any schedule alterations.

The airline is actively collaborating with Airbus and its lessor, Avolon, to establish a new delivery timeline and expedite the aircraft's entry into service. They anticipate receiving the initial five A330neo aircraft by Q1 2025.\Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, MAG Group Managing Director, expressed deep disappointment over the Airbus delivery delays, compounded by previous setbacks with Boeing 737-8 deliveries. These delays are significantly hindering their fleet modernization plans and growth requirements. He emphasized that having the necessary assets in place is crucial for achieving their growth targets, optimizing their network, and continuing to deliver enhanced services to customers.\MAG reaffirmed its commitment to fleet modernization and exceptional customer service. They stated they are diligently working with aircraft manufacturers and lessors to minimize disruptions while ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards. The A330neo is a significant addition to Malaysia Airlines' fleet, offering improved operational efficiency and reduced emissions. It also introduces new features and enhancements for passengers.\This news follows recent reports highlighting concerns within CAAM regarding the airline's engineering staff. It was reported that 63 out of 411 qualified engineers had resigned since January, potentially leading to operational inefficiencies in maintenance and engineering, which are critical for the airline's safety and performance
