Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, which started in New York City in 2008 before expanding to California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas — and into grocery stores nationwide — will open its first Colorado store on Aug. 6 in Boulder, at 1750 29th St.

The company is planning to open a second location in Denver’s Larimer Square in late summer or early fall. The company is known for its wide variety of unusual flavors, including Honeycomb, Marionberry Cheesecake and Earl Grey Tea.
