Despite most companies in Vietnam adopting a “wait-and-see attitude” over the global economic downturn forecast this year, companies are willing to raise salaries.
Those are the findings of the latest global salary survey from professional recruitment specialist Robert Walters, which surveyed 1,773 candidates and 546 companies in South-East Asia in September last year, to get feedback on their main expectations or concerns.Job movers can expect to get 15% to 25% more this year. In some high demand sectors, such as digital, the rise can be as much as 35%.
Although 70% of employees said that job security becomes more important to them in the face of a recession and inflation, the majority of them still place a higher importance on maximising earnings than job security. Other factors, such as inspirational working culture and colleagues , and flexible work arrangements , were also mentioned.
