Majority of customers hoped to have power by Wednesday, CenterPoint Energy says

On Saturday, CenterPoint Energy sent a statement saying they're working to have most customers' electricity back on by Wednesday.

An official told ABC13 about the estimated restoration following Thursday's unprecedented storm. But the utility said it could take longer for the hardest-hit areas.Recovery is in progress in Houston and surrounding areas after severe weather on Thursday, and CenterPoint Energy is continuing its ongoing efforts to restore power.On Saturday, at 10:30 a.m., the company said that 82% of customers, or 2.3 million people, had their power restored.

CenterPoint said nearly 2,200 line workers and vegetation professionals arrived late Friday evening to continue the restoration project. CenterPoint said its primary focus is on homes and businesses. In a post on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the company said workers were out before sunrise to continue repair work.
