Accu Weather projects that the coming snowstorm may extend as far north as Boston, and bring with it anywhere from a light dusting of snow to over a foot in some areas of the northeast.A winter storm is coming, one that is likely to have a major impact as it passes across the country.
, the storm is likely to affect much of the East Coast of the United States, as well as large sections of the central plains and southeast. “A high-impact winter storm will spread snow and ice across more than two dozen states from Texas through the Carolinas and Massachusetts from Friday through the weekend,” AccuWeather reports. “The amount and extent of snow and ice could cut power and disrupt travel for days, increasing the risk to lives and property.” In states further south, where snowfall is typically minimal, several inches of snow may put infrastructure to the test. AccuWeather reports that heavy snow may be incoming for heavily-populated areas in a span that goes from Texas and Oklahoma to Georgia, and then be followed by low temperatures dropping “into the 20s, teens and even single digits.” “Potentially hundreds of thousands of people may go without electricity and heat for days,” said Jonathan Porter, AccuWeather chief meteorologist, in their coverage.Projections show a range northeast from Washington, D.C. to Boston, all of which may see as much as a foot of snow., National Weather Service forecasts showed three main scenarios were possible, including one where the storm largely stays south of Pennsylvania. Another shows moderate snowfall across the western portion of the state, between 1-6 inches. And the third, should the storm turn more northward, would bring a foot or more of snow.that “models were in general agreement that Philly had a high likelihood of a snowfall of at least 6 inches,” and that as of Wednesday, the chance for snow on Sunday was 80%.in State College calls for a chance of snow late on Saturday night in the Harrisburg area, increasing through Sunday. The NWS snowfall predictions only extend out to Saturday, but it seems likely that snow is coming to the western half of the state by then.
