Jeff Goldman | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
An “Amtrak track condition” on Monday morning was causing major delays for NJ Transit trains to and from New York, officials said. As of 9:15 a.m., trains into and out of New York Penn Station were facing delays of at least 60 minutes, NJ Transit said. Midtown Direct trains were being diverted to Hoboken, where riders could take a PATH train into Manhattan. NJ Transit buses and private carriers are accepting train tickets. It was unclear what the track condition was that caused the delays.
Amtrak said only one of the two tracks under the Hudson River was available and rail congestion was delaying its trains.
