After it began to feel like summer was on the horizon, much of the U.S. will go back to feeling a chill this week, with the possibility of some severe weather.
Local residents in South Florida picked up after the damage caused by widespread flooding following historic rainfall this week.
There was a brief period of heat throughout the country heading into the weekend, with some places reaching as high as 90 degrees after weeks of cold, wet weather. But those conditions returned on Sunday, beginning in the Midwest, signaling a trend of storms set to take place over the next week. On the other side of the country, the National Weather Service says a front from the Pacific Northwest will bring another round of rain and snow to higher elevations in Northern California.'Major cooldown' for Midwest, Northeasthigher temperatures in some areas will be over 20 degrees lower than the Sunday high in those same places. Detroit, which had a high of 75 degrees Sunday, is forecasted for a high of 42 degrees Monday.
"The major cooldown for much of the Midwest and the interior Northeast will arrive in the wake of a potent cold front set to track across the eastern United States through the first few days of this week," AccuWeather said.
