The Moore Park entertainment precinct in Sydney will be able to host five times more concerts every year as part of the government's commitment to bring the 'energy and vibrancy' back to the city's nightlife.
Sydney Cricket Ground and Allianz Football Stadium in the Moore Park precinct are currently restricted to hosting just four concerts a year, but the new proposal suggests increasing that limitation to 20.
“Sydney is a city of millions… with many many young people and it is going to be active and have an energy to it,” Mr Minns said. Allowing Sydney to host more concerts every year will mean attracting more international tourists along with major global performers who will make the city a “regular and important stop” on their touring schedules.
The Sydney Football Stadium, a $828 million facility along with the SCG, will be repurposed to drive commercial activity wherein both sporting events and music concerts can be held without disruption to turfs.
