Maine senators Susan Collins and Angus King want answers about the Lewiston mass shooter and his time as an Army reservist.

Law enforcement continue a manhunt in the aftermath of a mass shooting, in Durham, Maine, Friday, Oct. 27, 2023.

Among their seven questions, they’re asking what concerns were raised by Army personnel regarding Card’s mental health and what was done in response.'Things were dropped:' Maine State Police colonel says a combination of factors led to Lewiston shooter falling through cracks According to the Press Herald, an Army spokesperson said last week it’s launching an internal investigation into Card.

"He refuses to get help or to continue help. I’m afraid he’s going to up his life from hearing things he thinks he heard," the text message reads. "I believe he's going to snap and do a mass shooting."After receiving that warning in September, deputies in Sagadahoc County tried to make contact with Card at his home in Bowdoin to conduct a welfare check.
