Monday marked the first day of an over two-month closure of the Main Street Alameda Ferry Terminal for a renovation project that will last until the terminal reopens next year.
ALAMEDA -- The previously announced shut down of the terminal began on Monday, October 23. Ferries will not stop at the terminal until service there resumes on January 2, 2024. The Main Street Alameda Ferry Terminal Refurbishment Project is aimed at repairing and replacing the existing aging terminal infrastructure, bringing the terminal into compliance with seismic safety requirements.
Weekend Oakland ferry service will be temporarily reduced to support the service to Alameda Seaplane. For ferry riders going to South San Francisco from Alameda, ferries to South San Francisco will only be available out of the Oakland Ferry Terminal at 10 Clay Street in Jack London Square. Free validated parking is available at Washington St. Garage near the Oakland Ferry Terminal to accommodate those riders traveling to and from South San Francisco.
