The faithful will once again show their devotion to the Black Nazarene as the Quiapo Church is set to conduct two main activities starting tomorrow Saturday, Jan. 7, leading to the actual feast on Monday, Jan. 9.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tradition of “Traslacion” and “Pahalik” will still not be present during this year’s celebration. However, the Quiapo Church will introduce two activities: the “Pagpupugay” event and the “Walk of Faith” procession— to safely observe the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene.
“So, ang mangyayari po diyan, ang bawal lamang po ay humalik. Pero pepwede po ang lahat ng deboto na humawak, kung may panyo pwedeng ipamahid ang panyo. Pwede pong magmano, huwag lang pong humalik ,” he added. “Alam na po nila kung ano ang gagawin . We will do it orderly. As we have said, observance of physical distancing,” he added.A procession called “Walk of Faith” will be held after the midnight mass on Jan. 8. The procession will start from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church. The Quiapo Church said that the procession is projected to start at 1:30 a.m.
During the walk, Irasga said that all “elements” of devotion will still be present as members of the church such as priests and sacristans will be joining the event and will pray the rosary. Devotees were encouraged to bring candles and single-hand carried images .
