Mail-in voters and several Democratic candidates filed a lawsuit today against President Donald Trump and Postmaster General Louis DeJoy over the U.S. Postal Service changes ahead of the election
The voters allege Trump and DeJoy “have set about to ensure USPS cannot reliably deliver election mail,” noting the last-minute changes to the agency “fundamentally change the rules of how mail voting works.”
The lawsuit asks the court to take measures “to ensure that the USPS is adequately funded so that it can...deliver all election mail” and “unwind the harm” already caused by DeJoy’s changes to the agency. In addition to the New York lawsuit, a group of voters in Texas, Pennsylvania, New York and Indiana filed a lawsuit against Trump and DeJoy in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, which alleges DeJoy has “[put] his thumb on the electoral scales to help ensure Trump’s reelection and/or provide grounds for an election contest.”
