According to Euclid police, the theft happened just after 1 p.m. Saturday in the 27200 block of Sidney Dr.

“They said, ‘Give me the keys,’ he turned over the keys and ran off,” said Euclid Police Detective Sgt. David Maslyk. “It’s unfortunate, and it’s scary, and the Euclid Police Department is dedicated to making sure the postal service feels safe here.”The carrier was approached by two people wielding what were believed to be semi-automatic handguns, demanding his master keys to mailboxes across the city.

“It’s very unfortunate; you remember the old days, if you will, when postal workers knew everybody on the street, everyone knew the postal workers,” said Maslyk.Euclid Police do not have a description at this time but encourage anyone with information to reach out to their non-emergency line: 216-731-1234.

Robbing a postal worker has become unfortunately common across the country, as the Associated Press reported last year, an increase of 30% for such crimes.
