A still unidentified gunman shot dead a municipal councilor in Datu Salibo town, Maguindanao del Sur province while on his way to the Sangguniang Bayan session hall around 9 a.m. on Monday, April 17. ManilaBulletin
Police Major Roldan Kuntong, Datu Salibo municipal police station chief, identified the victim as Daemon Daglok Silongan, 50, of Barangay Poblacion, Datu Salibo.Kuntong said the councilor had just alighted from his vehicle when the gunman approached and opened fire.
Rex Torino, municipal information officer, said in a phone interview that the victim was unarmed and had no police escorts since he had no known enemies.The suspect fled on a motorbike driven by an accomplice, Torino said.
