“I’m literally shaking,” Magnolia West senior Jackson Blank said after the team celebrated with a run to right field after the handshake line. “I threw the last pitch Dawson made an amazing play and it just all hit me at once. I saw my catcher Caylon Dygert come out and tackle me. I threw my glove and hat away so they wouldn’t get smushed. I can’t even explain it.”
“Each year, we have seniors that come in and do a great job and always leave something behind,” Lake Creek coach Jeremy Shramm said. “We have seniors on here that have played in a lot of playoff games. Look at guys like Blake Brown, Pugh, Uribe. They’ve done a great job. It’s a class that brought a lot of winning tradition. It is what it is. We’ll come back next year and we’ll work again.
“James is not used to throwing two days before and then throwing today,” Earles said. “Same way with Jackson . Jackson’s not used to that. We have a no excuse policy around here and guys need to be ready to go. They were freaking ready to go today.”Lake Creek starter Jack Haag had faced the minimum and had retired the first two Mustang batters.
