A 6.0 magnitude earthquake jolted Masbate province at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.The epicenter of the quake was located 11 kilometers southwest of Batuan town. It had a depth of 10 kms, Phivolcs chief Teresito 'Toto' Bacolcol said.
'Damage to property and aftershocks are possible from this latest tremor,' Bacolcol told The Manila Times.As part of safety measures, work and classes were suspended in Masbate.Phivolcs said Intensity 7 was felt by residents in Masbate City and Intensity 5 was felt in Dimasalang, San Fernando, and Uson.Other towns also felt the tremor.On Wednesday, one of Masbate's towns, Dimasalang, was rocked by a magnitude 5.0 magnitude quake.
