Tiny magnetic implants revolutionize healthcare monitoring, offering wireless communication with wearable devices.

A representational image of a young physician explaining senior patients how to use mobile application in order to control heart rate.Researchers from Peking University have created a new healthcare monitoring system that utilizes millimeter-scale, chip-less, and battery-less magnetic implants. These implants are just like any other wireless device, so they can communicate just as well.

The team performed experimental trials on rat models. They found the system’s promising capabilities in measuring critical parameters such as cerebrospinal fluid viscosity, intracranial pressure, and glucose levels. According to a statement released by the research team, their invention opens up unprecedented possibilities for diagnosing, treating, and managing a plethora of

“Unlike traditional methods, the wearable device can initiate a damped vibration in the magnetic implants, subsequently capturing their ensuing vibration motions wirelessly,” Zongyi added. “These motions serve as precise indicators of the biophysical conditions surrounding the implants and the concentration of specific biochemicals, depending on surface modifications.”
