Magistrate remands ex-civil society group officers over false claim allegations

THE former chairman and treasurer of a civil society group have been remanded for seven days from today to assist MACC officers investigating allegations of false claims of RM11,000 to a government department two years ago. Magistrate Mohd Zulhilmi Ibrahim issued the remand order for the former chairman, 47, and the ex-treasurer, 43, at Johor Baru magistrate’s court today.
Earlier, sources said the two men were detained at Johor MACC office between 8.30pm and 9.30pm after they came to give their statements. They are suspected of, at the end of January 2021, submitting false claims to a government department for the supply and implementation of a treatment and rehabilitation programme, which was not carried out. – Bernama, January 9, 2023.
