We chat with IndianaJonesandtheDialofDestiny stars Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson about working with Harrison Ford, their character motivations, and the movie's biggest stunts:
Picking up in 1969, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny follows Indiana Jones on one last adventure as his goddaughter Helena Shaw reappears in his life without warning. On the brink of retirement, she pulls him into a hunt for a dangerous artifact that he once chased years ago with her father. However, former Nazi scientist Jürgen Voller is also after this artifact, believing the legend about it having the ability to change the course of history.
Mads Mikkelsen: We can only do that much. It's in the story. It's in the script. So we lean towards that, of course. This guy, he's a scientist, he's a mathematician, and that's his entire life. Unfortunately, he's also a member of a party. If it was only the science, that would be a nice day, but if you can combine the two of them, it's a great thing.
Shaunette Renee Wilson: I am a representative of the US government. Waller or Schmidt has worked with our government getting Americans to the moon. He's a scientist, he's a mathematician, and this seems to be a bit of an offshoot of what we were initially engaged with. I don't really like to work with them. I don't really appreciate the things I think they represent and I'm pretty much just following orders, but it kind of gets out of hand.
You guys all get to work with Harrison Ford on such an iconic property. What did you guys learn about Harrison while working on this film? The stunts in this are phenomenal. There's that tuk-tuk scene that brought me right back to childhood, and it looks like that would be a fun ride at Disneyland. Mads, what was the most difficult stunt that you guys had to do in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny?
