Madonna is set to reflect on her illustrious career in an intimate, in-depth discussion with Graham Norton ahead of her new album. The special, titled Madonna + Graham, was recorded at the legendary Koko venue in Camden, London, a site significant for hosting Madonna 's first UK performance in 1983 and later launching her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor.
In the 50-minute interview, the Queen of Pop looks back on her early days in New York, her enduring relationship with the UK, her recent Coachella performance, and reveals the stories, inspirations, and creative process behind her upcoming album Confessions II. Graham Norton, a lifelong fan, expressed his thrill at conducting the interview in such a meaningful location, noting Madonna's continued ability to get people dancing.
The BBC, calling it an unmissable television event, confirmed that the special will include appearances from Madonna's longtime collaborator Stuart Price. Jonathan Rothery, Head of BBC Popular Music TV, described the collaboration as a no-brainer, praising Madonna as an inimitable artist and Norton as a master of conversation.
The interview will be broadcast on BBC One on Friday, June 26, at 10:40pm, and on BBC Radio 2 on Saturday, July 4, from 6pm to 8pm, with later availability on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds. This interview precedes the release of Madonna's 15th studio album, Confessions II, the follow-up to her iconic 2005 album. To celebrate the album, Madonna will release a short film, Confessions II - The Film, directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase.
The film, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, features actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard E. Grant, model Kate Moss, and Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon. It is described as an ambitious visual work exceeding 10 minutes, built around the first six tracks of the album, including I Feel So Free and Bring Your Love with Sabrina Carpenter.
The film unfolds as a single continuous piece, weaving together music-driven sequences into an immersive experience that explores the tension between control and surrender, between being seen and disappearing into a crowd. Additionally, Madonna recently risked a dangerous stunt in Times Square, leaving fans aghast as she nearly plummeted into a crowd below. There are also reports of secret talks for a UK show to celebrate the new album.
