Madison 's softball team made history Saturday morning at BAC West, knocking off LEE , 9-3, to clinch the District 28-6A regular-season title and give the Mavericks their first district championship since 2003. 'This feels amazing,' Madison pitcher Brooklynn Gonsalez said. 'We came out today and really wanted it and we're pumped . We really put in a lot of work to make this happen.' Madison has now won 11 straight and the Mavericks are 12-1 in their last 13 games.
Sarah Zamora had a two-run single and Jade Earl had two hits in the inning — including an RBI double — to key the Mavericks' outburst. LEE had chances to cut into Madison's lead, getting baserunners in every inning after the Mavericks' rally, but the Volunteers were unable to get the hits they needed to push runs across and close the gap.
