North East ISD student Hannah McMullan and her Meat Militia teammates smoked the competition at National High School BBQ Championship in Branson, Mo.
A barbecue team from James Madison High School smoked the competition June 9 to become the first all-female team in the event's history to take home the national title. Five Madison High School students make up the Meat Militia , which took home the gold at the National High School BBQ Championship in Branson , Mo. They also earned Snow 's BBQ ' Tootsie Tomanetz ' Queen of BBQ award and were deemed the First Ladies of BBQ.
Her former team, the Cowboy Smokers, won the championship back in 2022. The North East Independent School District congratulated the pitmasters in a social media post Monday, adding that two other teams from Madison High School also made it to the top 10 in the competition. 'Our students spend long hours over the pits and in the kitchen creating award-winning recipes that continue to highlight this incredible program,' the district wrote.
