JOHOR BARU: The newly-launched Madani Medical Scheme is expected to help lift some of the burden off the currently stretched public healthcare sector, says Ling Tian Soon.

The Johor health and unity committee chairman said the scheme will allow Rahmah Cash Aid recipients to receive medical treatment at 33 registered private general practitioners in Johor Baru.

Ling said he hoped the scheme could help those in the B40 group to obtain acute primary care services or outpatient treatment for acute cases. He said the government would update the list of the participating general practitioners from time to time to allow more STR recipients to benefit from the initiative.Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said in a statement that the initiative would run until Dec 31.
