MacKenzie Bezos sold about $350 million worth of her Amazon shares—the first sale since her divorce:
now pegs her net worth at $35.9 billion.
This is the first time that MacKenzie has moved any of her Amazon shares. An Amazon spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. Since the divorce, MacKenzie Bezos has stayed away from the limelight, while her former husband has become a fixture in the tabloids with his new girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez. In May, MacKenzie Bezos signed the Giving Pledge, a commitment to give away more than half of her wealth to philanthropy and charitable causes either in her lifetime or after her death.
The filing with the SEC was released recently but dated December 31, 2019. It doesn’t list the dates on which the shares were unloaded. If sold, then she likely sold the shares for around $360 million before taxes, based on average prices in December 2019. The SEC filing was listed under Jeff Bezos’ name because he still votes the shares that MacKenzie owns.
