The highlight of Patriots linebacker Mack Wilson's Friday night wasn't the win over the Panthers. The former AlabamaFTBL standout says that honor goes to a special moment with his 1-year-old son.
A two-time All-State selection at Carver High School in Montgomery, Wilson played at Alabama in 2016, 2017 and 2018 before entering the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick of the Browns in 2019.
But Wilson went down in training camp on Aug. 18, 2020, with what was described as a significantly hyperextended left knee. The injury caused Wilson to miss the first two games of the season, and he didn’t make the first of his eight starts in 2020 until the sixth game. Wilson’s tackle total dropped to 39 as he played about 40 percent of the snaps in 2020 that he did as a rookie.
Wilson has played in 43 regular-season games, with 28 starts, in his three seasons. He has 163 tackles with one sack and one interception in his career. Wilson played 944 defensive snaps as a rookie, 372 in his second season and 194 in 2021.
