: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two officers of an enforcement agency attached to the Malaysian High Commission in Bangladesh on suspicion of accepting bribes in connection with the issuance of foreign visas and the entry of Bangladeshi tourists and workers into the country, according to a source.
“MACC detected a number of suspicious money deposits into bank accounts of the two suspects, and they were ordered to return to Malaysia to assist in investigations. More than 20 bank accounts linked to individuals and companies had been frozen in connection with the case, the source added. Meanwhile, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, when contacted today, confirmed the arrests and said the investigation was being conducted under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009 and Section 4 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 .
