Macaulay Culkin was not ready for Catherine O’Hara to die.

The actors worked together on the “Home Alone” movies playing mother and son, and Culkin recently said he had some loose ends with the Emmy winner.
"When Catherine passed away in January, that hit me,” he told. “That hit me pretty good, ’cause, you know, it was just too soon. And I felt that we had unfinished business. I definitely feel like I had unfinished business with her, you know?
I feel like I owed her a favor — and I don't like having an outstanding debt. ” Kate and Peter McAllister sure seem to have a lot of funds for a family in the Chicago suburbs in "Home Alone.
" O’Hara wasn’t the first “Home Alone” cast member to pass away. John Heard, who played Culkin’s father, died in 2017, and John Candy passed in 1994. Culkin understands that this is the plight of a child actor.
“I’m not the tip of the sphere,” he said. “I’m the butt of the sphere. I’m the caboose. I’m bringing up some of that old Hollywood guard kind of thing — I’m going to be one of the last people standing when it comes to that kind of stuff.
” He added, “But my life is unique to me. I don’t really have that many contemporaries when it comes to this stuff.
I can’t look left and right and think, ‘Oh, those people have had a similar experience to me. ’ But I try to cherish that as much as I can. I feel like I’m living a really uniquely wonderful life. ” Culkin paid a heartfelt tribute to O’Hara after she passed away earlier this year.
He posted a photo of himself with his on-screen mother from the Christmas movie alongside a similar photo of the two from recent years.
“Mama. I thought we had time,” he wrote in the caption.
“I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you. But I had so much more to say.
I love you.
