Quick take: The MacArthur Brahmas rode a rushing attack that combined for 278 yards on the ground as they rolled over the LEE Volunteers 26-2 Saturday at Heroes Stadium in the season opener for both teams. The Brahmas tallied 381 total yards and racked up 20 first downs, as MacArthur halted a nine-game losing streak, winning for the first time since beating Marshall , 28-22, in last year’s season opener. MacArthur was led by versatile senior Colton Cornwell , who scored three touchdowns .
Two plays later, Zertuche ran for 17 yards to the Brahmas 8 before loosing the ball, with MacArthur defensive back Isaac Heath scooping the fumble and returning it 92 yards for a score, putting MacArthur up 13-0 with 2:17 in the first. The Brahmas extended their lead to 20-0 when Cornwell scored on a 3-yard run on a toss sweep to the right, following his blockers and just getting inside the pylon for the touchdown, at the 3:48 mark in the second quarter.
