The accident took place at around 8am at Junction 23 on the Westbound carriageway at Dumbreck junction on Tuesday, January 10.
Photos taken at the scene, which were shared on social media, show a white coloured Corsa abandoned in the middle of one of the lanes. It appears to have ploughed into a stationary object at the side of the busy road. Commuters have been advised that they may face a lengthy wait of up to 30 minutes when passing through the affected area.
