The M60 closure has now been lifted and all traffic is being released
All traffic was stopped on the M60 on Monday night due to a 'police incident'. Emergency services have closed the motorway in both directions between junctions 22 and 23 .
The A6140 Lord Sheldon Way, Ashton-under-Lyne over the M60 is also closed. North West Motorway Police and officers from Greater Manchester Police are at the scene. Traffic cameras show congestion building as drivers were warned by Highways North West to 'expect delays'.National Highways tweeted at around 10.30pm, saying: "M60 both directions between J22 #Oldham and J23 #AshtonunderLyne #GreaterManchester. TRAFFIC STOPPED due to an ongoing @gmptraffic @NWmwaypolice led incidentThe motorway reopened at around 12.20am this morning.
