Drivers have been stopped on both sides of the motorway
Traffic has been stopped on a busy stretch of the M60 this rush hour. National Highways said traffic had been stopped in both directions between junction 27 for the Portwood Roundabout and junction 1, the Pyramid Roundabout, due to a 'police incident'.They said that officers from Cheshire Police are currently at the scene. Queues are said to be building on both sides of the motorway.
The air ambulance was called in and landed on the carriageway. In a statement issued in the last few minutes, Greater Manchester Police said: Emergency services are in attendance, including an air ambulance. At this time, traffic has been stopped in both directions between J27 and J1 for the safety of those at the scene.We have had it confirmed from emergency services that there have been two, seperate incidents on the same stretch of the M60 this afternoon.
Traffic is moving on the opposite side but two lanes have been closed. There are queues on that side all the way back to junction 23 for Ashtonthe motorway is closed, surrounding roads are heavily congested, our services are currently operating with delays of up to 25mins, Please allow extra time for your journey with us this evening.Four mile queues
