M3GAN marked a big career first for Get Out's Allison Williams
is the new horror movie everybody's talking about and while Allison Williams might be taking a backseat to the killer doll right now, the new movie did see her achieve a career first.Digital Spy"It was such a pleasure to be officially very involved in the movie from the beginning. I like to be that involved anyway, but this time, I had a credit that meant I was allowed to be, no-one could deny me drafts of the script. It was the best," she enthused.
"I absolutely loved it. I feel like it will be hard for me now to be in a movie where I'm not also producing because I just love all the details. I find it all fascinating and wonderful." As both executive producer and the lead star, Williams was keen to ensure that her character Gemma – the creator of the titular android who uses it to help her when she gains custody of her niece – felt authentic and layered.
"It's a really hard part to play, actually, because she risks being the villain immediately and yet, we are hoping that audiences [are] begging for her to do a better job. They can feel that she wants to do the right thing, but she just doesn't have the tools," she explained. "We know Cady's better off with her because she's a human being. But for a while, we are supposed to think that maybe M3GAN actually is a better idea – certainly a more fun one."
