Más de 300 personas fueron arrestadas por protestar ilegalmente y tres fueron acusadas de agredir a policías en medio de protestas en el Capitolio en Washington para exigir una tregua entre Israel y Hamas.
Cientos de activistas de grupos judíos como Jewish Voice for Peace e If Not Now entraron en un edificio de oficinas del Congreso el miércoles. Llevaban camisas que decían “Los judíos están a favor de una tregua ahora mismo” y gritaban “¡Dejen que Gaza viva!” y “¡En mi nombre no!”, antes de ser detenidos por la Policía del Capitolio.
No está permitido hacer protestas dentro de los edificios del Capitolio, y la policía dijo que le advirtió a los manifestantes, que estaban en la rotunda del Cannon House Office Building, a que cesaran, antes de hacer los arrestos. Las 305 personas arrestadas por protestar ilegalmente fueron luego liberadas y las acusadas de agresión fueron retenidas previo a la comparecencia judicial.
