This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. M. Night Shyamalan has teased his next movie with a new post on social media as his latest film Trap nears an important box office milestone. The filmmaker's latest movie is the 16th movie he's directed, following the story of Cooper , a serial killer trying to escape a trap set for him by law enforcement at a Lady Raven concert.
Now, taking to Instagram, Shyamalan posted an image of a red notebook, teasing that he would be using it to write down his ideas for his upcoming 17th movie he'll be directing. The filmmaker says he writes down his ideas for all his movies in different colored notebooks, saying that a bright red one "felt just right!" He also mentions that Trap passed $80 million at the global box office, creeping ever closer to a $100 million milestone.
What Shyamalan's Notebook Means For His Next Movie The Bright Red Could Signify Many Elements Close The prolific director hasn't posted his idea notebooks like this one on Instagram before, signifying the image could be a hint about what to expect from his next movie. M. Night Shyamalan movies often have characters experiencing intense or mysterious situations, with many of his movies billed as horror or thriller because of this factor.

Since Trap has made $80 million against a $30 million budget, the movie has managed to score a small profit in spite of mixed to negative critical reception. While the ending of Trap hinted at the potential for a sequel, Shyamalan's never made a direct sequel to his films outside 2019's Glass. This hints the new movie will be a wholly original idea once more, not tied to any other films in his career.
