Last fall, M&Ms introduced a new purple M&M, also female, “designed to represent acceptance and inclusivity.” And the three lady M&Ms were featured in a special-edition, all-female package earlier this month designed to celebrate women’s empowerment. But that also sparked outrage online. So, now it appears that M&M’s is playing it safer by going with the popular Rudolph as its cheerleader. As the brand said on Twitter, “now we get it — even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing.” A brand spokesperson told MarketWatch that Rudolph will make her first appearance in support of M&M’s in an upcoming Super Bowl campaign.
