PETALING JAYA: The M-League teams can afford to smile now. The grants for all 24 teams in the Super League and Premier League are set to be disbursed as early as next week.

The 12-Super League teams will be getting RM1mil, while the 12 Premier League teams will get RM500,000 each thanks to sponsorship deals signed by the Malaysian Football League .“A total of RM18mil will be made available to all partners of MFL and this is based on the total sum that MFL has managed to raise through sponsorship deals, ” said Abdul Ghani.“RM1mil each will be given to teams in the CIMB Super League and RM500,000 to teams in the Premier League.

“All partners understand that the distribution is based on the income of MFL for the year, based on the agreement signed between the partners.”In the past two seasons, the AFC Champions League has been the only continental competition that M-League clubs could look forward to but the runner-up of the 2020 Super League, as well as the winners of the 2020 FA Cup, will be competing in the second-tier AFC Cup competition from next year.

“We have been informed of the additional slots but are still waiting for the official letter from AFC... the additional slots will give the teams more motivation to compete, ” said Abdul Ghani.
